Thank you for another successful PPDR!
The Purple Polka Dot Race is a 5K Walk/Run, Family Fun Run and Virtual Run to benefit the Vascular Birthmarks Foundation.
Every birthmark tells a story and this is ours
On March 4, 2015, we welcomed our beautiful daughter into the world. She arrived absolutely perfect – 10 fingers, 10 toes and a special birthmark on her cheek and chin!
Months later we found out that her birthmark was something called a port wine stain (PWS) – a kind of vascular birthmark. We immediately started our search for answers and came across the Vascular Birthmarks Foundation (VBF). The VBF has not only provided us with answers but also with a sense of community and support system unlike any other.
Our sweet 2-year old currently receives laser treatments for her PWS, which cause her to have temporary purple polka dots on her face. Our mission is to raise awareness and encourage acceptance for all those out there who are also sporting their very own “purple polka dots”!
Everything we raise does go directly to the VBF and I know it goes to good use! They have made advancements in the medical community as well as educating all of us in the birthmark community. I know that people are learning a lot and are really interested in vascular birthmarks in general.
Thank you again. I don’t know how else to say it and it sounds so simple, but I don’t know where we would be without the VBF.
God Bless You!
