2024 Purple Polka Dot Race on 8.11.24 at Stony Creek Metropark

Every birthmark tells a story and this is ours

On March 4, 2015, we welcomed our beautiful daughter into the world. She arrived absolutely perfect – 10 fingers, 10 toes and a special birthmark on her cheek and chin!

Months later we found out that her birthmark was something called a port wine stain (PWS) – a kind of vascular birthmark. We immediately started our search for answers and came across the Vascular Birthmarks Foundation (VBF). The VBF has not only provided us with answers but also with a sense of community and support system unlike any other.

Our incredible 9-year old currently receives laser treatments for her PWS, which cause her to have temporary purple polka dots on her face. Our mission is to raise awareness, encourage acceptance for all those out there who are also sporting their very own “purple polka dots”, and educate everyone we know about all things related to vascular birthmarks!!

All of the funds raised by the Purple Polka Dot Race go directly to the VBF. Over the past 8 years, YOU have helped us raise over $200,000 for the VBF. Every $500 raised helps 1 family (just like ours) attend the annual VBF conference for FREE!!!

Our goal in 2024 is to raise $20,000, which can be used in a meaningful way to support the birthmark community through various VBF programming. Please consider joining us on this achievable mission!!

Thank you all for your continued love, support and understanding! See you in August!

Much love – John, Jody, Meghana & Serena Lee
